Iron Man (2008)
Big Year for Movies Ahead
By Ron Rego 1-15-13
This year should be another big year for
movie goers. Last year we saw the third
Batman, Avengers and Hobbit help launch
a huge year for movies. This year will have
many more movies that will be sought after
as well and it all starts with John McLane a
s Bruce Willis returns with “A Good Day to
Die Hard” as he passes the torch to his
son Jack McLane.
This January, fans will look to “Hansel & Gretel : Witch Hunters” that will get the big movies going to lead in to McLane. Coming in March will be “Jack the Giant Slayer” that will add to the twists of classic fairy tales. The emergence of TV’s “Once Upon A Time” has generated a lot of different looks toward the classics. Then in April, “Scary Movie 5” comes out to get ready for the summer blockbuster season. That is not too shaby of a start.
On May 3, “Iron Man 3” will kick off the summer and will pile up the
totals around the world as the previous two of the franchise did.
Also in May the next installment of “Star Trek” returns with “Star
Trek: Into Darkness.” This movie has potential to out duel “Iron
Man.” “The Hangover 3” and “Fast and the Furious 6” also out in
May will also do well, but one or both could get lost in the mix.
In June, the much anticipated “Man of Steel” comes out and we
hope this is the one Superman fans have been waiting for. This will also be the start of what DC Comics will counter with for 2015’s Justice League.” Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman will all be part of that ensemble.
July will have a wide variety of movies that will make everyone happy.
“Despicable Me 2” and “The Lone Ranger” will kick off July. Johnny Depp will
play Tonto in “The Lone Ranger” as the TV classic comes to life. Adam Sandler
returns with “Grown Ups 2” and don’t count out “Pacific Rim” which could be a
surprise blockbuster. Ending the month of July will be “The Wolverine” with
Hugh Jackman, as he brings a sure hit back and also “The Smurfs 2” which will do well because of the kids will want to see it.
In August, a movie that went under the radar will be another hit as the sequel to “300” makes its way to the theaters. “300: Rise of an Empire” should be just as amazing as the first. “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” will put up very good numbers as the teens will come out in droves to see it.
Rounding out the year will be “Riddick” and “Cloudy with the
Chance of Meatballs 2” in September. A new “Sin City” and a
slew of horror movies in October that will include a new
“Carrie” and “Paranormal Activity.” This November could be
the biggest moneymaking November ever as “Thor: The
Dark Worlds” and “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” both
the second installment of those franchises. They will pile on
the numbers in a month that used to be a movie wasteland
several years ago. In December you will have “Bad Santa 2,”
“Anchorman: The Legend Continues” and “Jack Ryan” which
is a prequel to all those Harrison Ford movies (“Patriot
Games,” “Clear and Present Danger”), but the biggest of the month and maybe of the year could be the second part of “The Hobbit.” “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” will be a huge hit as this past years first movie was and should dominate December and into next January.
Certainly a great year for movies ahead of us and we hope people send us movie reviews regularly.

Shia Out For Transformers 4
By Ron Rego 1-9-13
One of the biggest franchises of
movies has been recast. Michael
Bay confirmed that it will be an all
new cast for the next installment and
clarified rumors that Transformers 4
would be a reboot. He also said it
would be a trilogy. Personally, the
fact that the same man that made
the first trilogy, should not reboot to
do it again.
Bay’s new cast will include newcomer Jack Reynor, a 20-year old Irish actor that has very little work. He has apparently only appeared in one film. The little known movie “What Richard Did” was seen by Bay and that was enough to cast Reynor for Transformers 4. Also in the movie with Reynor will be Mark Wahlberg but no other actors are currently attached to the project that is due to be released in 2014. Bay claims that this time around will feel different, but I for one is skeptical and think it will be pretty much the same. I also feel cheated out of my previous $63 on the other three films when he is doing it all over again. Would love some feedback on what your thoughts are to starting the franchise over.
The Hobbit Breaks Records
By Ron Rego 12/16/12
Middle Earth was visited by movie goers once
again and it was in record numbers. “The Hobbit:
An Unexpected Journey” made an estimated
$84.8 million in its three day opening. That broke
the previous record of $77.2 million that was held
by “I Am Legend,” the 2007 blockbuster starring
Will Smith. This was the first installment of a
three-part series. The movie also made more
than any of the other Peter Jackson’s previous
Middle Earth movies, “The Lord of the Rings”
openings. “LOTR: The Return of the King”
opened with $72.6 million in 2003.
To top off the weekend, no movie even posed a threat for Bilbo Baggins as he and the rest of Middle Earth nearly made $80 million more than second place "Rise of the Guardians" ($7.4 million). This coming week should keep “The Hobbit” on top as the biggest threat will be Tom Cruise in the movie “Jack Reacher.” It looks good, but his movies have sputtered of late and will not pose a threat. Look for “The Hobbit” to top the list again until at least the Christmas week and maybe longer.

Katee Sackhoff was known for playing a fighter pilot
Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace on Battlestar Galactica. She
also played on the FOX hit "24" as Dana Walsh. Now
she has a new venture and that is being a movie
star. She has six projects in the woirks including
Campus Killer to be released in October. The big
names however, will be coming up for her in 2013.
That will include the comedy Sexy Evil Genious that
also stars Seth Green, Michelle Trachtenburg and Anthony Michael Hall. She will also star is the upcoming Chronicles of Riddick sequel that just wrapped up filming. The latest news has her signing up for an upcoming movie that is being described as the female version of The Expendables. She is the second actress that signed on to the project as Gina Carano, who starred this past January in Steven Soderbergh's Haywire has already signed on. It is said to have several prominent actresses from the action genre to be completing the cast.

is he still can fly without the red wings behind?
I couldn't post on the review page for Cowboys & Aliens so I"m doing so here. The movie was good...but not great. I'd give it a B- myself. I didn't really feel anything for the characters.
If you want to see a ( A- ) movie go see Captain America. That's my opinion :) {...as much as I hate to say it cause I love Harrison Ford so much}
