The Yukon Flying Squierrels put their
stamp on the season early as they
dismantle the Texas Massacre by 42.
Michael Vick out gunned Eli Manning
and tossed 2 touchdowns both to Julio
Jones who had 108 yards receiving.
Vick did get some help along the way
and big help it was. Arian Foster ran for 79 yards but his 2 touchdowns sealed the deal for Yukon late in the game. Julio Jones was named player of the week by the HFL.
In the Eastern Conference, the Eastern Eagles
edged out Waterford by 3 points to take the first
game of the season. Aaron Rodgers and Andre
Johnson hooked up all game long as the Whaler
secondary couldn't contain Johnson.
New England got 339 yards and 3 touchdowns by
Drew Brees to lead them to victory over the Boston
Nicks for the upset as First pick in the draft, Tom Brady, couldn't get the offense moving.
Los Angeles squeeked by Yolo by 1 point and should thank Ray Lewis for the victory. Lewis had a big sack and forced a fumble in the final minutes to preserve the 1 point lead. The fumble came from LeSean McCoy as he took a Phillip Rivers pass cutting across the line of scrimmage. Lewis popped him and the ball flew loose. L.A. recovered the ball and ran out the clock.
Player of the week:
Week 1: Julio Jones (Yukon) 25.80
