The return of Big Brother saw Julie back as host and the house guests had a few surprises very quick in the game. The first surprise was that Willie Hantz, brother of Survivor super villain Russell is in the house and says he will live up to what Russell did in Survivor. Then as the guests settled in to listen to Julie, she told them that they will be joined by 4 all-star Big Brother coaches. The four coaches turned out to be Britney Haynes, Janelle Pierzina, Dan Gheesling and Mike “Boogie” Malin.
The coaches picked teams and then they were summoned to their first challenge for HOH. Julie told them that not only will the winning team have their coach pick an HOH from their team, but the last place team’s coach will send one of their team members home. Britney’s team of Willie, Shane and JoJo took the win and Britney chose Willie to be HOH. Coming in last was Dan’s team and had to send one member home and chose Jodi. With a house guest already being sent home on Day 1, the rest of the house guests were definitely on their toes.
The big thing seems to be that they are focusing on the four judges rather than the players. I am not sure if it is a good thing, but we may not get to know most of the players well like we have every other season. The only other player really getting any airtime seems to be Willie and that’s because he is the brother of super villain Russell Hantz. Now back to the game and the fact that Janelle is trying to control Britney and seems to be succeeding in it. She has told Britney that Boogie is working together with Dan and trying to manipulate the rest of the house. Ummmmm… Doesn’t this sound like what Janelle is doing?
A funny scene was when Willie had the TV on watching Ian strut around acting very odd with his behavior. Willie and Britney kind of made fun of his behavior as he was just doing weird things like walking funny and randomly crawling under a bed to seemingly do nothing.
Julie announced the Coaches competition that would declare a player safe for the winning coaches team. It also would decide who the have nots will be. The horse derby had two of the coaches trying to catch each other to yank off their tail. In the first rounds, Boogie defeats Britney and Janelle beats Dan, but only because Dan threw the challenge. In the final round, Boogie defeats Janelle to win the right to keep one player safe. He chose Ian because he is very vulnerable. Boogie felt Frank was safe so left him exposed. After the competition, each coach had to pick 1 player to be a have not. Britney goes for Shane, probably because she knows he's strong enough to handle it. Dan picks Danielle for no discernible reason. Janelle picks Ashley, which just seems cruel. And Boogie goes with Ian since he should get some bad to go with being safe. The room looked insane with spirals everywhere that will surely drive the have nots crazy. If not that then the beds which are curved with bumps all over them.
The nominations were just what Britney wanted, but could be devastating for Boogie. Willie nominated Frank and Kara. Frank is on Team Boogie while Kara is with Dan. If Kara goes, Dan will be left with just 1 player. Can’t wait til we see the POV competition.
